The check will show what work you can do and whether there is a time limit, so read it carefully before accepting overtime, a second job or self-employment.
National Insurance is part of the UK tax and social security system. You can apply for a National Insurance number if you live in the UK and have the right to work. Starting work can be possible while the number is being processed, but your employer needs accurate details and you should keep records of your application.
UK job applications usually use a tailored CV, short cover note and online applicant tracking systems. Do not include a photo, marital status, religion or passport number on a standard CV.
